The Homestead, 26 Dashper Drive
We are selling our beautiful old historic family home, set on a 9.8884Ha section, surrounded by 45.5592Ha of covenanted native bush. The whole property is 55.4476 hectares more or less, with large established trees surrounding the house.
The homestead was built by James Henry Goatley of Goatley Rd in 1880 - 1889 from timber he hand-milled off the land. James built the house to include lovely match lining, kauri floorboards, double hung windows, high roof stud, and wide verandahs to lounge in the sun. The property was the first one to be surveyed for the area, and bears the Goatley name in the road.
While houses were typically smaller in those days (120 m2), the surrounding buildable land around it is 1Ha approx on the 9.8884Ha of Lot 8, and could support a substantial new dwelling in addition to the Homestead, to take advantage of the covenanted bush surrounding it for the riparian set back.
The property has only ever had three owners, and was last on the market in the 1970’s. We would love to find buyers who will keep the old homestead, to renovate it or add to the size. There is plenty of potential for sensitive design in keeping with the environment.
The home sits in the upper area of our small subdivision called Dashper Drive off Goatley Road. This prime spot is flooded with sun at different times of the day, and looks out over the shared right of way off the tar sealed road. The small neighbourhood of new homes in the subdivision is a lovely mix of supportive residents who care deeply for the beautiful surrounding environment, and creating a sense of community.

This beautiful homestead includes 45Ha of covenanted native bush stretching up and joining onto the Dome Valley State Forrest.
The bush is home to over 15 species of native birds, and the rare native NZ Hochstetter's frogs that possess some of the most ancient features of any extant frogs in the world.
Small bubbling streams flow down from the bush, with fresh water kōura sheltering between stones in the small pools.
